The ‘Impressionist Set’

An Irrational Element introduces the Impressionist Set an attire comprised of a jacket, trouser and short-sleeved sweatshirt. The name ‘Impressionist Set’ is derived from An Irrational Element’s open and somewhat romantic interpretation of impressionism by discerning it as a model to view the world. To elaborate; impressionist works have been interpreted as a romanticized view of reality. This same romanticization could be considered a cornerstone to An Irrational Element’s ethos. It’s one of the reasons why most photography is shot on film, while a picture is very much realistic having it produced on film comes with a feeling of romance and softness.

The same holds up for An Irrational Element’s apparel & goods, whilst unmistakably real(istic), the idea for them is to be impressionistically romantic. They are items meant to be part of the wearer’s life. Ideally An Irrational Element items are a memento for experiences like a first date, a hike with loved ones, a stroll through the city by oneself, a first experience in a new creative endeavor or anything else worth revisiting physically or mentally.

Serving as an impetus to further understand and grasp this interpretation of impressionism the Impressionist Set will be offered solely as full set.

Taking a closer look at the set.

The jacket and trousers are made from an organically grown cotton and hemp denim fabric. Having received an initial wash the hemp is indistinctly present and provides an earthiness to the jacket and trouser its textures. Like with many denim items the first couple of wears the fabric is sturdy and it will slowly soften over time. Whilst the denim is woven in Spain the jacket and trouser are manufacturer in its neighboring country Portugal.

The last item included in the Impressionist Set is a navy short-sleeved sweatshirt made in Japan from a slowly loopwheel knitted Japanese jersey. The slow tubular knitting of this jersey results in a well-built fabric that has not experienced any tension but gravity during the manufacturing process. Subsequently the quality control on loopwheel fabrics tends to be much more precise due to all the manual steps executed by the machine’s technician to have these tubular giants up and running. The short-sleeved sweatshirt also features 2-ply contrasting chain stitch embroidery on the chest with the word ‘impressionist’ made from a handwritten mold.
